Weaving Villa is an experimental textile design studio created as a platform to bring an experimental mindset in Indian textiles by working in collaboration with artisans. Located in Meerut (U.P.), India it is owned and managed by Hammad Abid.
After being exposed to the art of problem-solving through conceptual and critical thinking approach at Rhode Island School Of Design(USA), I bring an experimental mindset to my designing process. I am into rhythmic surfaces and deeply fascinated by kinetic textiles i.e. a piece of fabric that has a certain rhythm and adapts and respond to the movement of the body in a different way as compared to a traditional 2d fabric. My work is constantly changing as I explore new ways of creating pattern, texture, and form to incorporate my subject matter.
Right now I am experimenting with Origami, art of paper folding and incorporating it with Indian traditional textile techniques.
